Only the Conservatives have come up with a credible plan to deal with Labour's debt crisis.
David Willetts, Shadow Minister for Universities and Skills, says:
"The interest payments alone on Britain's debt will soon be more than £60 billion a year. That's nearly twice the entire annual Scottish budget - double what we spend on schools, hospitals, the police, local government and more, every year in Scotland.
"All the other parties are refusing to accept the seriousness of the debt. They are all burying their heads in the sand and hoping it goes away. They all want to put the country's credit card bill on the mantelpiece and forget about it, but we all know the more you delay payment the bigger the bill will be.
"Within 50 days of taking office a Conservative Government will hold an emergency Budget to set out a credible plan to bring down the deficit.
"We must also create growth in the economy. That's why we will scrap Labour's tax on jobs. Our plans will benefit 7 out of 10 working people and will save nearly 5000 jobs across Scotland. The Conservatives will also cut government waste - this won't endanger the recovery but putting up national insurance will.
"The other parties all have their heads in the sand. The Conservatives were the first party to be honest about the debt crisis we face and are the only party prepared to make the tough decisions to sort out public finances.
"Britain needs a strong Government with the ability to deal with our economic problems. Only a Conservative Government can be trusted with the economy."
