Salmond must apologise to family of dead Labour activist after vile SNP smear

Alex Salmond must apologise to the McKinlay family after a key SNP member smeared their dead son Danus. Mr Salmond has so far refused to take action on the issue and has passed the buck to his party officials.

Scottish Conservative leader Annabel Goldie says Mr Salmond has failed to take action on disgraceful SNP blogging in the past and unless he does something this time he will be signalling that he is happy for this type of SNP gutter politics to continue.

Annabel Goldie MSP, Scottish Conservative Leader, says:

"I am disappointed that once again Alex Salmond is trying to pass the buck on this disgusting episode. He is leader of the SNP in Scotland. He needs to take responsibility for the actions of his members and express regret for this repugnant behaviour.

"Alan Clayton has close links to senior SNP figures, including Cabinet Secretaries. He cannot be dismissed as an outsider. By refusing to apologise to the family of Danus McKinlay Mr Salmond is sending out a signal to his members that he is happy to condone such a distasteful smear campaign."
