MURDO ATTENDS SOCIAL ENTERPRISE FAIR
26/04/2007
Scottish Conservative Candidate for North Tayside and Deputy Leader of the Scottish Conservatives Murdo Fraser visited the S2S Social Enterprise Trade Fair at Perth Concert Hall to give his support to Scottish social enterprise exhibitors.
This is the 2nd annual S2S Trade Fair, which has been organised by the Scottish Social Enterprise Coalition. There are over fifty social enterprise exhibitors present to promote and sell their goods and services on the day, as well as build new business connections and showcase their products and services. Hundreds of delegates from across Scotland will attend the conference and Murdo will meet a number of the entrepreneurs.
Commenting, Murdo said:
“It is good to see that the Social Enterprise Trade Fair returning for a second year. It has established Perth and Perthshire as the place to showcase Scotland's social enterprises. With the Trade Fair coming to our area, it is an opportunity for local people to visit and learn more about social enterprises.
"I am a strong supporter of social enterprises as well as the work of the Scottish Social Enterprise Coalition. Social enterprises are businesses with a social purpose, and aim to make profit while helping and transforming individuals involved in the social enterprise and having a positive impact on local communities. Social enterprises are a different and dynamic way of doing business.
"I believe that a number of communities in North Tayside could benefit from social enterprises and I want to learn from the exhibitors what can be done to have a lasting positive change on towns and villages across Perthshire and Angus. I want to work with social enterprise groups that have an interest in giving back to our local communities and I will continue to work towards getting a number active in our area."
