Glasgow University Conservatives

The Glasgow University Conservative Association was originally founded 170 years ago (some debate this) though it has changed quite a bit during that time.
Some relics of the past still hang around the society such as our mace supposedly given to us by Robert Peel. However the wise sages of the party (and other parties on campus) are keen to point out that very little remains of the original (like a broom that has had several new heads and handles).
The society has not always been successful and suffered heavily in the 90s. Things looked grim until we were rescued by generous people in the party and the excellent stewardship of our former President Gordon Fraser. The revival of the party in Glasgow has continued over the past few years under former Presidents David Adams and Richard Anderson.
Today we are fast becoming one of the thriving centres for Conservatives in Scotland with a strong loyal core of members and close links with the local associations. The current President is Christopher Leishman with Jamie Johnston and Richard Anderson acting as Secretary and Treasurer respectively. Our schedule of events for the year is still being finalised but we are hoping to hold our annual St Andrews Night dinner (a tradition dating back all the way to last year) in November and hope it, along with all the other events will build on our previous successes and continue to steer the association foward to greater things.
If you would like to know more, or get more involved, feel free to contact the society.
