Aberdeen

There are two Conservative Future branches in Aberdeenshire,

Gordon and Aberdeen City

Gordon

Annabel Goldie meeting members of Gordon CF, along with Health Spokeman Nanette Milne MSPThe Gordon Conservative Future branch is a baby at the moment but is going to be, very soon, incredibly active in Gordon. The 2007 Scottish Parliamentary elections are just round the corner and our Association will be facing a new challenge. In Gordon we are going to see a stronger SNP challenge than before as Alex Salmond has decided to stand for the Scottish Parliament in Gordon because he could not get the candidacy for his own seat of Banff and Buchan. We have to fight to remove the incumbent Lib Dem Nora Radcliffe MSP, and fight to stop the SNP from gaining ground. We have already been very active distributing leaflets for local Conservative candidate and MSP Nanette Milne, across the entire constituency.

Earlier in the year the branch held its first event, University Challenge. At this event Aberdeen University students were put against researchers from the Scottish Parliament. The researchers won! This event was very well attended by many young and older members. Lots of money was raised and everyone had a good time. We are showing other political parties and the people of Gordon that the Conservatives here are very active. In 2007 we will prove that we are the real alternative to the Liberal Democrats, we will prove that we are the party better for Scotland than the SNP and we will prove that we are a real force in Gordon!

Chairman of Gordon CF

Aberdeen

The Aberdeen Conservative Future Branch is a recent branch of Conservative Future Scotland. It was set up a group of active volunteers to provide a group for young conservatives who were not students, and therefore not a member of either of the Aberdeen University associations. This is a very exciting time for the Conservative Party. We have new leaders in Annabel Goldie and David Cameron, are stronger in the opinion polls than we have been in a long time and Conservative Future is the most active Youth Branch of any British political party.

2006/2007 will be a busy time for Young Conservatives in Aberdeen. There are the forth coming Holyrood and Local Government elections to campaign for. We assist the campaigns of all the Scottish Parliamentary candidates in the region, in addition to three students from Aberdeen University standing for the Council elections. This is great, and will help to raise the profile of Young Conservatives everywhere.

Apart from the serious stuff of the campaigning, there is a lot of fun to be had being a member of Aberdeen CF, with pub crawls, parties and BBQs organised along with meeting the MSPs and Councillors we assist.
