Commenting as the SNP prepare to hold their annual conference in Perth, Murdo Fraser MSP, Scottish Conservative Deputy Leader, said:
“Alex Salmond is a monochrome man in a multi-cultural age. He and his party represent the worst kind of petty, bigoted, blinkered nationalism. In seven and a half years of devolution, his party has opposed only 6 Scottish Executive Bills, which makes them the limpest, most compliant opposition in the history of politics.
“Over the summer we conducted a policy review, inviting and receiving submissions from people up and down the country. Alex Salmond’s response to some ideas from Mike Russell – possibly the only forward thinking nationalist in Scotland – was to demand a copy of them, and then edit them out of existence.
“I am also surprised to see the SNP holding their conference back at Perth, where there was a swing of nearly 5% away from them to the Conservatives at last year's election.”
