Gavin Brown MSP lives locally in Edinburgh South and is passionate about fighting for a fair deal for the area. He is married to Hilary, who is a primary school teacher.

He is deeply involved in a range of important issues including campaigning for more police on the beat in Edinburgh South, saving the Greenbelt and campaigning to stop the closure of NHS hospitals in Scotland.

He previously campaigned against the Labour/Lib Dem Road Tolls in Edinburgh and fought hard in the battle to save the Scottish Regiments.

Gavin Brown is a dedicated supporter of the charity PLAN International (which helps children in Africa, Asia and South America), does voluntary work in Edinburgh prison and was a co-founder of a project to reduce the alarming number of suicides in Scotland, called Project Emergency Service.

Away from campaigning, he is the managing director of Speak With Impact, a training company he started in 2002. Gavin's enthusiasm as a trainer & motivational speaker has allowed him to help people all over the world. In November 2004 he won the award for 'Most Outstanding Trainer in the World.' Gavin is a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce and the Institute of Directors. Prior to going into business Gavin was a lawyer at one of Scotland's most respected legal firms.

In his spare time, Gavin takes part in Tae Kwon-Do (he holds a black belt & is a former Scottish gold medallist) and debating (he is a former winner of the World Debating Competition.)
