LOCAL CONSERVATIVES CHOOSE DUNCAN AS ELECTION CANDIDATE
Dumfries & Galloway Conservatives have today (Saturday, 22nd Sept) chosen Peter Duncan as their candidate for the next general election. At a packed meeting in Castle Douglas, they made their selection, and Mr Duncan immediately expressed his delight with the result.
Speaking afterwards, he said:
"I'm hugely grateful for the confidence which local members have shown in me – I will look to repay that confidence with a victory in the election to come. I am looking forward to the campaign, when we will look to fend off a resurgent SNP and overturn a thin Labour Party majority.
"I'm determined to present a positive vision for the future of our region with a new focus on affordable housing, a determination to create a flourishing small business sector and build support for local families.
"Dumfries and Galloway has been failed by 10 years of Labour Government - this constituency needs a stronger voice. I would welcome the chance to serve my home community as Member of Parliament once more."
