Cllr Gill Dykes is the Conservative councillor for the Mid & Upper Nithsdale ward (which includes Kirkconnel, Sanquhar, Durisdeer, Thornhill, Dunscore and Moniaive). Gill is married with two teenage children. She lives in the Cairn Valley and was educated in Nithsdale.
Gill has a good working knowledge of how Dumfries and Galloway Council and other agencies in our area operate. Gill speaks regularly with council officials as well as housing agencies, the NHS and other outside organisations, in her capacity as Senior Caseworker/ Researcher for Alex Fergusson MSP.
Gill says: “I'm looking forward to representing the area in which I live and work. I think we need younger people who have a good rapport with local communities.
"I am committed to this area and promise to pursue the issues which local people raise with me at local council level, to the best of my ability.”
