David Cameron: Good government costs less with Conservatives

The background to the coming election is the vast budget deficit and the fact that the Government has run out of money.

That means that this election is going to be different - not about how we should spend more of your money, but how we should try and save it. That's what my speech at the Welsh conference today and this week's video message are all about.

Gordon Brown has been shockingly casual with public money, with examples of waste and bureaucracy that are completely infuriating - especially when set against the cuts made in vital equipment budgets for our Armed Forces.

Will we really be different? Yes, because we will really reform public services, and really make all government spending transparent.

Above all, we will never forget that there is no such thing as government money. It is taxpayers' money - your money.
