Biography – George Carr, council candidate for Mearns
George Carr has been selected to fight the Mearns Ward at the Aberdeenshire Council elections to be held in May 2007.
George works as a scientific officer at the Scottish Agricultural College in Aberdeen, specialising in grass research. He comes from a farming background and having lived all his life in the Mearns at Lumgair, takes a keen interest in the local community.
Currently George is Secretary of Catterline, Kinneff and Dunnottar Community Council and is a founder member of Dunnottar Woodland Park Association.
As Group Scout Leader and Venture Scout Leader of Stonehaven Scouts, he has had a long commitment to the Group over the last twenty years. He serves on Stonehaven 'It's Special' and the Stonehaven Hogmanay Festival committee and is a founder member of Stonehaven Fireballs Association.
George sees value for money, fairness, combating antisocial behaviour, enhancing our environment and protecting our local heritage as his priorities for Aberdeenshire Council.
