One of Scotland’s most distinguished military figures and the country’s former chief inspector of prisons has died after a short illness.
Clive Fairweather passed away aged 68 and was latterly chief fundraiser for ex-service charity, Combat Stress.
Scottish Conservative leader Ruth Davidson MSP said:
“As a decorated Army officer, Clive served with care and distinction and showed the same passion and energy in his role as chief inspector of prisons and through his work with Combat Stress.
“He was a true gentleman, good company and compassionate, and simply liked to get things done.
“He will be widely missed and our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.”
