Figures released today have revealed an increase in the number of unemployed people in Scotland.
Among the statistics was a rise in youth unemployment, which went up by 2.8 per cent over the last three months.
Scottish Conservative MSP Murdo Fraser, who is convener of the economy committee in Holyrood, said:
“It is disappointing to see an increase in youth unemployment in Scotland.
“This comes after the SNP has slashed college budgets and is supposed to be encouraging more young people to take up modern apprenticeships.
“There are still far too many people out of work in Scotland, and it is crucial both the Scottish and UK governments work together to address this and get the economy moving.”
