Hundreds of dairy farmers from across the UK met at the Lanark Market today to continue discussions on the ongoing dairy crisis, and have been urged by the National Farmers Union of Scotland to come together in a new organisation called Dairy Farmers Together.
Scottish Conservative rural affairs spokesman Alex Fergusson MSP, who attended the rally, said:
“The clear message from today’s meeting is that unity is everything.
“If the dairy farmers of the United Kingdom stick together and use the momentum they have undoubtedly gained throughout the past three weeks, they can achieve and maintain the long-term sustainable solution to milk pricing that has eluded them for too many years.
“I would entirely endorse that call for unity and strongly urge all producers to work together to achieve that end.”
