It was revealed today that there are now a record number of police officers on Scotland’s streets.
Last year, the Scottish Conservatives persuaded the Scottish Government to secure funding for an additional 1000 officers.
As Scotland moves towards a single police force, it is crucial numbers on the frontline are not diminished.
Scottish Conservative Justice Spokesman David McLetchie MSP said:
“These figures are both welcome and encouraging.
“What we have to ensure is that frontline policing remains protected and that the shift to a new police service in Scotland will not endanger this.”
