Reacting to a housing report released today by the Scottish Government showing damning figures about the number of new homes being built in Scotland, Scottish Conservative Housing SpokesmanAlex Johnstone MSP said:
“No amount of SNP spin can mask the fact that these figures make grim reading.
“A 10 per cent reduction in completions across all sectors is a damning indictment of a Scottish Government more interested in its referendum than the housing needs of ordinary Scots.
“When the SNP slashed the subsidy levels for housing associations, we warned that it would drastically reduce construction, and this is exactly what has happened.
“In some cases, local authorities are bailing out projects in order to see much needed homes being built.”
“The bottom line is that this is not a sustainable approach to housing, and the Scottish Government needs to think again.”
